Lincolnshire show was a great success, with many people visiting the stand and seeing the V-trek van for the first time, the positive feed back was that they were very impressed with the style and layout. (This was the first time that we had exhibited at any show.)  The weather help and was fantastic for both the show days, which I think is pretty unusual!

V-trek  Mercedes campervan will be showing at this years Lincolnshire Show on the 24th & 25th of June 2009 at the Lincolnshire showground, on Witham Oil & Paint Ltd Stand. The V-trek campervan came back from the fitters last Friday and it looks fantastic!  The carbon Fibre is a very retro modern look that works really well with the brush stainless steel and the blue LED lighting.   We are still awaiting for the delivery of the tinted windows, at present we have inserted clear panes but these will be changed at a later date.  The customer of this van had the extra of Recaro seats which makes all the difference for the passenger and the driver,  well worth the extra.

While  away in Phuket, I notice the competition to V-trek vans!  As the weather is so hot and humid the little vans do not have windows, just roll down blinds for the odd day that it may rain.  Outdoor living is all the rage, so only seats are fitted within the vans.  I am not so sure about the fire red colour in such a hot country? but it is great for being noticed.

These little tuk tuk vans are great fun,  but I don’t feel threatened that they will take over the camper van market in the Uk, the climate would kill it!!

Had a long meeting with the guys who do the fitments for the interior of the vans yesterday. The progress is fantastic.  There are many changes to be made due to the fact that the new shaped mercedes van is a little bit longer, higher and wider which is all great news when working within such a small  space to get so many appliances in.  The windows still look like they could hold the hold job up!  At least we can get on with many more factors and cross the bridge of the windows again when we come to it.  The LED lighting has come on in leaps and bounds, and the technology will make it very contemporary within the V-trek vans.  Decided on a stainless steel finished trim to go with the carbon fibre veneer which will very retro.  The whole look of the carbon fibre is coming together really well.  Still need to get the work done on the back doors, but will do that shortly.   Away on vacation for 10 days so will be back with updates shortly.

Collected the new composite back door today,  They have done a fantastic job of replicating and incoporating the design from the original Mercedes back doors.  This is the second composite back we have had made for the V-trek van as the other one had some sever design faults which occured when we wanted to open it. 

The hinges have been a a headache, we were unable to find a hinges that would lift to 90′ degrees, but we also needed them to drop and move away before opening.  We went around many scrap yards to find a protype hinge that would successfully do the job, now that we have found the ideal hinge we can source it from the manufactures.

The top is fixed with a small window and the boot is hinged at the top. Its going to be installed into the van to check that we do not need any more modification to the mould.  Will keep you posted as to any further work that needs to be done.

We have finally got some sense from the company that supply the seitz S6 window, and they said that we can have the new style tinted windows, there is one slight problem, all their sizes have changed!  

The two side windows in the Mercedes van, behind the driver and passengers door will be slightly larger than anticipated (compared to the old V-trek van) at 1000mm x 600mm but this size is not too far out, as the window in the Mercedes door is 600mm at the widest point.  The other problem that we have had to overcome is the rear window which fits in the composite back panel  the smallest size in the tinted window range is 800 x 400mm and we only have room for 700 x 300mm, we have decided that because of the height of this window being near the roof line, and the fly net can always be pulled down to act as a net curtain for privacy, we are going to stick with the standard window without tinting in the rear panel,  and hopefully the seitz S6 size range will get larger in the near future.

For the development of the V-trek Mercedes campervan we  plan to put tinted windows in the camper, for security, keeping cool, and for the sheer good looks! 

We are unable to tint standard campervan windows because the plastic window contracts and expands in different temperatures causing the tinted surface to bubble and ripple. 

You would think that it would not be a problem as nearly every vehicle on the road has got tinted windows, but it is becoming a pretty big headache for us.  The windows that we really would like to use are the Seitz S6 as they have everything that we need in a window, double glazed, fly-blinds, thermal blinds, and tinted.  We have spoken to Dometic, the supplier, to see if we can purchase these windows for our van builds, but they said that they could only supply us if we were based in Europe, so if we are French or German we can have them, but as we are British we can’t!! 

We cannot understand a company, that takes a new product to shows, promotes it to the trade and general public, brags about how good it is, and then says.’ BUT YOU CAN ‘ T HAVE ‘ EM.?

Has anyone had any dealings with this seitz S6 window or company Dometic, if so can you give me your feedback.  Or alternatively if you are a company who supplies a similar window to the Seitz S6 I would be interested to hear from you.

Why is it that my computer can go into Hybernation, and I can’t!  and when it’s not in hybernation it goes into Safe Mode! What a cushy life for a computer.  All I want to do is set up my blog about the development of V-trek  and my computer seems to have gone off in a megga sulk.  I suppose delving into the World Wide Web is pretty daunting, but after all everyone is doing it, so it cannot be that bad.  I am using my husbands laptop at present, it is not quiet the same as my computer, once you get use to something it is a bit like a pair of old slippers.
